The greatest part of finding purpose is continuing in the pursuit of a deeper relationship with Christ.
If you aren’t a Christian, you may not know what that means, and it can be a little intimidating.
If you are a Christian, you may still be unsure of who you are in Christ, what your destiny is or how to get there.
Being a Christian is a work in progress-you don’t have to be perfect-but as Christians we strive for perfection in Christ. That means we depend upon Him to sanctify us because:
Romans 3:23 (NIV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
It doesn’t matter who you are, the Scripture states that we have all sinned. So you are in good company. But let’s add verse 24:
Romans 3:23-24 (NIV)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Christ redeems us all. Our part is to accept Him into our hearts and believe in Him by faith.
Sometimes understanding this type of love is difficult. That’s why it takes faith.
If you are not a believer, you need to understand what this means and even if you have been witnessed to by a Christian, it’s always important to read the Word for yourself.
Read Genesis 1 and 2 to understand the power of the God who created the universe and mankind within it.
Read Genesis 3 to understand how sin entered the world, and the consequences that followed.
Read the Gospels to understand how Jesus came to redeem mankind, and how He relates to us in our imperfection.
The wonder of God is this- He Who is our Creator loved us so much that He sacrificed His very essence-His son, to save each of us:
John 3:16 (NIV)
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
He does not want any to perish.
Don’t believe for a minute that you have to “get right” before becoming a Christian. There’s no such thing. You take the first step, Jesus helps with the rest. Remember, we have all sinned and fall short. We need Christ to redeem us. Once we are redeemed, our destinies are set. We are joint heirs with Christ!
After you have read and understood the Gospels, and you decide to make that step, you may pray this prayer of repentance:
Father in heaven, I recognize that I am a sinner, and I repent from my sins and lack of belief in You. I now believe that You are the one true God- Creator of all things seen and unseen, and that you sent your Son, Jesus Christ-God made flesh- to redeem me. I believe that He was born of a virgin, that He suffered, died, and was buried and that He rose from the dead on the third day. I believe that He died to redeem me and only He can save me.
Jesus, from this day forward, I confess that You are my Savior, and I invite You into my heart. I will serve You until the end of my days. Amen.
Thank You Jesus!
Remember; take your faith-walk one step at a time. It’s not a walk of perfection, but a walk of persistence.
