Be Quiet

Lakefront

It’s been noisy lately.

Y’all know what I mean. Regardless of who you are or where you are, regardless of where you going-the noise is distracting.

I was speaking with someone the other day who was feeling so much pressure that they couldn’t focus on the encouragement I was trying to give them. They had simply given in to the noise. They were almost in a frenzy of stress.

I’ve been there. The job, the spouse, the kids, the world.

Noise.

It’s not that these concerns aren’t important. It’s just that we must find time to find peace and quiet.

We must be quiet.

Being quiet does not mean giving up. We can either give in to the noise or give in to peace.

Imagine for a moment what it would be like to give in to peace. To simply allow it to wash over you. To be quiet and not add to the noise.

Because sometimes we add to it.

When we complain instead of being thankful.

When we do all the talking instead of letting another speak.

When we argue instead of finding a path to reconciliation.

Yeah, I know it’s been noisy.

But we can find that place of peace. The place where we can hear God’s heartbeat.

Listen.

Be quiet.

John 16:33 (NIV)

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16 (NIV)

Final Greetings

16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.

Blessings!

Sharon
