Not Quite Finished

blankpages

Imagine that you are a book. You are a thick book with many chapters. Your pages have been opened and made vulnerable to many readers. Some couldn’t get past the first chapter. Some stopped in the middle. Some are still reading.

You were written as unique. Sometimes disturbing. Inspirational. Tragic. Some chapters make no sense at all. You were written for certain readers. Even those that couldn’t get past the first chapter. Most of the time, they will come back and pick up where they left off.

You must be in the mood for some books. As a book, you are quite complicated.

Imagine that as the book you realize that you are over half-read. You also notice that the Author is still writing.

See, you only know about yourself by what has already been written. And you only know by the breath of the last word.

Sometimes that’s frustrating. And that’s where I am. I have no idea what I’m doing. I don’t know what’s next. I have more chapters behind me, less ahead. I thought I knew how the story was going to progress.

The last couple of chapters have been dark.

I’m starting to see glimmers of light. Lightning.

It’s like the chapters you read in books where the main character is at a precipice, and the decisions made determine the outcome.

Except the Author knows. He knows the outcome, the reasons, the twists and turns. He knows the purpose of the book. He knows my purpose. He knows yours.

I’m writing this as an encouragement to you. And to myself.

I have no idea what’s going to happen next. It makes me uncomfortable. Kind of numb. It’s not that I don’t care. It’s more like I have relaxed. Lost control. Given in to the Author. He has the pen after all.

He wrote me. He is writing me still.

So, I don’t know the end. So what. I don’t even know the genre.

If you feel uncertain of the rest of your tomorrows, trust the Author. You are being written with a purpose. Even when the chapters get dark, and the only vision you see is that which is revealed by lightning.

You are a wonderful story. Don’t be in a hurry to be finished.

Blessings!

Sharon
